
According to journalist Kamini Mathai, the split may have been due to the fact that Ilaiyaraaja could not commit to re-recording as there was a strike an impatient Balachander decided to use background scores from his older films to fill the unfinished portions, angering Ilaiyaraaja to the point of ending his alliance with Balachander. This was the last collaboration between Ilaiyaraaja and Balachander. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja and the lyrics were written by Vaali. The dubbing voice for Rahman was provided by Nizhalgal Ravi. So he comes back with Jyothi from Goa, which makes Gowri angry and she doesn't let Jyothi in without knowing who she is. Then ManiBharathi get a prank call from his PA that Gowri is ill. Then, he makes a living in Goa with Jyothi. Tensions escalate until Bharathi flees from home and ends up encountering someone else named Jyothi who's also escaping from her life as a dancer because her husband made her dance forcefully and tried forcing her to be a prostitute. Julie and Michael come to know the truth regarding why Ashok is leaving Hyderabad and they run to the railway station to stop them but fails to find him. When Ashok gets selected instead of Michael, Michael's father ( Ahuti Prasad) strikes a deal with Ashok that the marriage between his son and Julie will only take place if Ashok steps down and lets Michael substitute him and tells Ashok to cut his friendship with Julie so he doesn't interfere in Michael's and Julie's life, to which Ashok agrees. Julie falls in love with Michael D'Souza ( Akash), a cricketer who's hoping for a place in the Indian cricket team and Ashok happens to be his main rival. Ashok falls in love with Nandini ( Aarti Agarwal), a rich girl whom he marries, and although Julie's closeness to Ashok initially irritates Nandini, she subsequently accepts it. Ashok ( Venkatesh) and Julie ( Kalyani) have been friends since childhood.
